Secret of Success

Few days back, while browsing at Linkedin Questions, I came across a simple Question - What is the secret of your Success ? The question looked simple but it really puts one more question is my mind - Am I successful? It is not easy to judge your success. There is no end to the success stories of many individuals like Tatas and Ambanis. Anyday, we look very miniscule in front of these successful people. After many rounds of introspection, I finally settled for "Yes, I am successful", not in comparison with anyone but the way, I carry my daily Life and the way, my colleagues look at me. In everyday Life, I do get many simple queries from my colleagues reagrding their personal problems and they do get satisfied answers/solutions from me, at least the glint in their eyes, says so..
So, once I settled for the answer to my own question that I am successful, as I am better off than many of the people sorrounding me and I achieved better results than many others, I tried to answer the basic question..

Question was -
What is the secret of your success?
Asked by Kalpesh Banker April 6, 2008 in
Career Management, Mentoring Open
My Answer was:
“I know, What are my Needs and what are my Desires ?

I know, How to balance between my Needs and my Desires ?
I know, How to Aim ? I know, How to achieve ?
I know, How to achieve within set time frame ?
I know, How to make Decisions ?
I know, if I start early, I will reach early ?
I know, How to Drive safely ?
I know, Man management, machine management, time management ?
I know, difference between Anger and Agression..
I know, my committments towards my Family.
I know, How to enjoy the Life..
I know, God is there to Help all of us..”

## Better for all of us to do an introspection and start answering this question, again and again, at regular intervals. May be it will give us some reasons to feel good and also some points for improvements. May be its a Self-Assessment for success.. Try n enjoy the success..

Plan your Moves

Today, at Delhi it was drizzling in the morning, the usual shift from Winter to Fall. As expected, many of the employees, came slightly late and some more late than others. After few minutes of settling down, people started talking of Traffic jam at every corner and started blaming the Rain and the system for all the mess on the Roads of Delhi. Suddenly, I realized, "How people blame others to cover up their shortcomings?". Infact, in the morning, when my wife saw the drizzle, she asked me - If I can drop her to the office? So, I immedietely asked her to get ready a bit early. We started at 7.20am from Delhi and reached her office at Gurgaon by 7.40am. Thereafter, I moved towards Mehrauli road and zoomed towards my office at Delhi. Midway, I stopped at Sai temple at Lodhi road for 5 Minutes. Lastly, I reached my office at Connaught Place by 8.40am. So, within 1 hr and 20 minutes, I covered almost 60 Kms stopping at 2 places and reached office well before stipulated time of 9.30am. No hiccups, no rush, I enjoyed the drive n the rain as well.
Jist of the episode, just plan your moves, as per the requirements and committments. Its good to be committed rather than finding excuses, for not achieving simple goals. Everyone knows the distance of his or her house from the office and the usual travel time to cover that distance during peak and non-peak hours but still people find it difficult to make it on-time to office. Its not a big thing but it shows the planning skills of a person and his or her habits of non-seriousness.
This simple rule of planning can also be applied to every sphere of Life, think of your targets, set time frame to achieve the same and start planning your moves, always add Buffer to take care of contingencies and be on time, everytime at your target. Once you plan your moves, it becomes much easier to achieve the Targets..try and enjoy the success..Enjoy the Life!!!
